The cold-blooded residents of the ranch have begun emerging with the rains and warmer weather. This time of year they can easily be found lounging in the sun and sampling the fresh greenery sprouting out of the warm, muddy soil. Reptiles and amphibians are icons of summer for us, seeming to appear out of thin air (or more accurately: out of deep ground) after the first big rain of spring.
