These critters have been so quiet around here I have pondered the idea that perhaps I've effectively reduced the population in my immediate home area. That idea is as silly as it is arrogant. So still I try, and yet still they appear. Two nights ago I had harvested a coyote from a mile west of this location. Last night around 1030pm I heard a lone coyote yodeling a half mile east and wondered if it wasn't missing a member of the family unit. So I attempted to call the lone yodeler in but to no avail, as I heard the yodeling move southward I aborted the mission. Tonight I thought what would it hurt to give another try ? Then viola ! Two minutes later I put this big gal on the ground 15 yards from where I had placed the call the night before. Had she remembered the sounds from the night before ? Is this the same one I heard ? These are the questions that tend to consume too much of my miniscule brain power in my efforts to learn more of the quarry I pursue. Most of these questions will forever go unanswered, which in return continues to fuel the drive to succeed. One more down, and possibly a gazillion to go.
