It’s so common to see poor posture in seniors—but it doesn’t have to be that way. 🧓💪 With age, muscles weaken, joints stiffen, and years of sitting or inactivity can cause the body to round forward. But the good news? Posture isn’t permanent—it’s something we can improve with small, consistent daily efforts. When we don’t focus on our posture, it can lead to pain, stiffness, and even balance issues. But just a few simple exercises each day can realign the body, strengthen the muscles that support good posture, and help you move with confidence. Today, I’m showing you the three posture exercises my 89-year-old Bubbie does—right from a chair and with a pillow between her knees. If she can do it, so can you! 1️⃣ Elbow Squeezes (with interlaced fingers behind your head) – Interlace your fingers, place your hands behind your head, and gently pull your elbows back. Squeeze your shoulder blades together and open your chest. 2️⃣ Seated Twist – Keep the pillow between your knees and gently twist side to side, reaching across your body. 3️⃣ Seated Cat-Cow – Holding the pillow, gently arch your back and lift your chest, then round your spine and tuck your chin. It’s simple, gentle, and effective. Perfect for seniors or anyone just getting started. Always listen to your body—if something doesn’t feel right, stop immediately and adjust as needed.
