9 years ago today, playing with one of my childhood heroes. “Play Poker Like the Pros” was the first poker book I read in high school. Hearing @philhellmuthpositivity story about dropping out of college to play full time showed me what was possible. The simple yet effective strategies allowed me to crush my home games, build my confidence and bankroll, to soon thereafter tackle online poker and the local casinos. Since then, I’ve gotten to play quite a few times with Phil and even spent some time with him away from the table. I learned a lot from our interactions. He’s much different than what people see on TV in the “highlight” reel of high-emotion moments that are caught on camera. Very down-to-earth, incredibly focused, and extremely passionate about the game. Highly recommend his most recent book, “Positivity,” for insights into his mindset and approach to poker and life.
