The Monstera Esqueleto was named for its “skeleton-like” appearance. This is because its leaves are characterized by extensive fenestrations, with nearly 80% of the leaf surface perforated, giving it a distinctive skeletal look. Native to the cloud forests of Costa Rica, the Monstera Esqueleto thrives in high humidity and indirect sunlight. In its natural habitat, this rare plant is a climber, often ascending tree trunks with the aid of its aerial roots. When cultivated indoors, providing a moss pole or similar support can help mimic these conditions, promoting healthy growth. The Monstera Esqueleto is sometimes confused with the Monstera Adansonii when they are both young. However, the Esqueleto’s larger leaves and more pronounced fenestrations set it apart. Additionally, while it shares some similarities with Monstera lechleriana in growth habit and leaf size, the Esqueleto’s unique perforation pattern and generally droopy leaves make it distinct. #monsteraesqueleto #esqueleto #adansonii #monstera
