Bennet/Yeo House by @craigsteely Hamakua coast, Big Island, Hawaii Bennett / Yeo House is another stunning house of the Lavaflow series designed by Craig Steely Architecture in Big Island, Hawaii. Set on thirty acres along Hawai‘i’s remote Hamakua Coast, this home uses a slender steel frame to support walls that shift from open air to glass, screen, and solid layering materials to temper the expansive view. The team opted for a custom prefabricated steel system, developed with their structural engineer, after standard options felt too clunky. Built from 8x8 wide flange beams, the bolt-together frame allows for broad spans while keeping the structure refined and minimal.
