Keiichi Tsuchiya—Japan’s legendary Drift King—got behind the wheel of the ARTA Honda NSX at Tsukuba for one final time attack. Even on used tires and during warm-up, Tsuchiya stunned everyone by breaking the long-standing touring car lap record with a 52.75-second run. Later, on fresh soft-compound tires, he pushed even harder and set a new record of 51.875 seconds. It was a perfect send-off for his retirement, announcing that he would no longer participate in any long-form racing. When asked if he’d keep doing time attacks, Tsuchiya simply said, “Of course, I’ll drive till I die.”
