FIA GT 1998 — one of the rare times I’m more interested in GT1 than GT2. The 993 GT2s and Vipers are cool, but the wild battle between the Porsche GT1 and Mercedes CLK GTR is impossible to ignore. The GT1 championship was won by Klaus Ludwig and Ricardo Zonta of AMG Mercedes, while Olivier Beretta and Pedro Lamy took the GT2 title with Viper Team Oreca. After the season, GT1 was dropped from the FIA GT Championship due to a lack of entries for 1999.
