Protecting the places we love: Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica 🇨🇷🌊 The @hermosaworldsurfingreserve is Costa Rica’s first World Surfing Reserve, protecting over 6 kilometers of coastline known for its powerful beach breaks and rich biodiversity. Located near Jacó, Playa Hermosa is not only a world-class surf destination but also a vital nesting site for sea turtles and home to a thriving coastal ecosystem.   The Playa Hermosa WSR brings together surfers, scientists, local nonprofits, and government agencies to protect this unique surf zone from threats like coastal development, pollution, and habitat loss.   With support from Save The Waves, the reserve is advancing efforts in natural habitat restoration, including reforestation of native coastal vegetation and conservation of critical wildlife corridors that connect surf ecosystems to inland forests.   O’Neill is proud to support Save The Waves and their World Surfing Reserve program.
