Sometimes our history posts are necessary to remind us of the history we should never repeat. On this day in 1942, Executive Order 9066 signed by FDR, was issued by Lt. Gen. John DeWitt from his headquarters. 110,000-112,000 Japanese-Americans were settled in 10 relocation camps. Two thirds of these individuals were American citizens. Japanese Americans in the U.S. had suffered for decades from prejudice and racially motivated fears. Most Japanese Americans, particularly the first generation born in the United States, identified as loyal to the US. Not even one Japanese-American citizen or Japanese national residing in the US was ever found guilty of espionage. #onthisday #thisdayinhistory #ninelineapparel #ww2 #ww2history #ushistory #worldhistory #pearlharbor
