I started Mirror Palais in fall 2019, right before the world shut down. When we were forced into lockdown in 2020, I didn’t want to lose the momentum I had just begun to build. With no one to shoot, I romanticized my pieces as inanimate objects: on hangers, folded in drawers, draped across beds, doing whatever I could to keep the dream alive. During that time, I met Emna. Though she was 4,000 miles away in Tunisia, she had been following Mirror Palais from the beginning, and her imagery inspired me deeply. I sent her the only samples I had, and somehow, without ever meeting, she perfectly embodied the world I was trying to create. This campaign is a full circle moment. We finally met in person and traveled across Morocco, waking up in a new city every day, learning about each other, building trust, creating together. The collection wasn’t inspired by Morocco, but I’ve always felt drawn to the beauty and culture of the Maghreb. Emna’s work has always reflected that: desert and sea, texture and color, softness and strength. Knowing the collection was all white, I loved the idea of setting it against that richness. We connected with locals in every city, and without them, none of this would have been possible. From the souks of Marrakech to the tiles of Fés, the dunes of Merzouga to the pristine streets of Rabat, it was incredible to witness a place where history, beauty, and tradition are still so alive. In a world obsessed with speed and sleekness, Mirror Palais is about slowing down. Creating with meaning and honoring beauty. It takes everything out of me to work this way, but your response always reminds me why it’s worth it. I hope you love this collection and these images. I hope you feel what we felt.
