Did you know that Black babies are 9x more likely to be offered formula in hospitals, even when it’s not medically necessary?! That statistic isn’t about biology. It’s about bias. Access. History. During slavery, Black women were forced to nurse enslavers’ babies while our own were neglected. That legacy still impacts how Black mothers are treated today, in hospitals, in policies, and in breastfeeding support. Black women can and do produce milk. But less than 2% of lactation consultants are Black. And we still have the lowest breastfeeding rates of any racial group. This is why Black Breastfeeding Week matters. Because when Black families receive culturally informed care and real support, we thrive. If you didn’t know, now you do. Save it. Share it. Tag a mama who needs this. #TommeeTippeePartner #BlackBreastfeedingWeek #NormalizeBlackBreastfeeding #RepresentationMatters #BreastfeedingWhileBlack #LactationEducation #OurMilkIsMagic #BlackMamasMatter #CulturallyInformedCare #IBCLC
