MAKE PRIDE EVENTS ACCESSIBLE! 🌻🌈 EVERY Pride event should be accessible for all. Some examples include: making sure there’s safe and easy venue and event accessibility, shade and water, bathroom access, sensory-friendly spaces, COVID precautions, ASL interpreters, etc. Create safe spaces that are accessible for ALL LGBTQIA+ disabled folks including those who are neurodivergent, immunocompromised, and those who battle mental illness. ALWAYS include LGBTQIA+ disabled folks in your conversations around Pride and be mindful of your choice of words. Avoid language that further marginalizes LGBTQIA+ disabled folks and contributes to the extremely ableist world we live in today. Let LGBTQIA+ disabled folks determine what THEY are needing and understand that disabled folks are as diverse as any other group of people! 💖🌈 (image description: purple block letters that read “make pride events” and teal block letters that read “accessible” over a purple background surrounded by wavy rainbows on the top and bottom of the page over a blue to teal gradient background)
