It's been 50 years since "Bodyworks" opened. Organized by the MCA, "Bodyworks" was the first American museum exhibition focused on the growing practice of body art in the 1970s. Featuring works by Vito Acconci, Laurie Anderson, Bruce Nauman, Adrian Piper, and more, the exhibition presented artists exploring self-transformation, fetish, fantasy, and the psyche, from conceptions of self-identity to physical manifestations of gender. Throughout the course of the exhibition, several events, screenings, and performances occurred, the most memorable being Chris Burden’s performance "Doomed."
