Today is the Feast of Saint Anthony 🙏🏻 the patron saint of lost things, of seekers and wanderers, of the poor and the hungry. And like every good Italian home, we honor him with bread. Not fancy bread. Not precious or complicated. But humble little rolls. soft, simple, and made with intention. Because Saint Anthony didn’t ask for grandeur. He asked us to share. Growing up, my Nonna would tuck these rolls into napkins and hand them to neighbors. “Keep it close,” she’d say. “For blessings. For protection. For when something’s lost. Inside or out.” So today I bake. With flour, water, yeast… and prayer. For clarity. For return. For everything we thought we lost that’s still finding its way back to us. May this bread nourish more than the body. May it remind you that what’s meant for you will always circle back. Sant’Antonio , pray for us. 🙏🏼 Ingredients ⬇️ 2 packets active dry yeast 1/4 cup warm water 3/4 cup whole milk 3/4 cup unsalted butter (1 1/2 sticks) 3/4 cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon salt 5 1/2 cup 00 flour (or all purpose), divided 4 large eggs, 3 for the dough and one for brushing Method in comments ⬇️
