This evening, on his second outing of the NC youth turkey season my oldest nephew took his first ever turkey! I am so proud and honored to have been there as guide, cameraman and caller to make it all happen for him! After a few call sequences we had one response on the ridge with us, minutes later 4 Jakes were creeping in on us. One finally gave a clean and clear shot at roughly 22 yards and the young man made a spectacular shot! A shot that came from his great-grandfather’s (my grandfather) bolt action .410 shotgun. A gun @smoakjesse7 and I grew up hunting squirrels with, and to see it in action in the turkey woods after all these years is fulfilling and somewhat emotional... There’s no doubt we have hooked another hunter to carry on this lifestyle.
