On 19 July 1969, close to the time that Apollo 11 was passing behind the moon making preparations to put Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin into the Eagle Lunar Module, a combined force of Israeli Shayetet 13 commandos and Sayeret Matkal operatives were infiltrating a small Egyptian man-made island near the entrance to the Suez Canal... I first heard about Operation Bulmus 6, better known as the Green Island Raid, during the Third Phase of BUD/S out on San Clemente Island. The Phase Master Chief had just read a book by Samuel M. Katz @samuel_m_katz titled THE NIGHT RAIDERS and told our class about one of the operations detailed in the book – the assault on Green Island. Third Phase is the final phase of BUD/S and as soon as we were back in San Diego, I tracked down a copy of THE NIGHT RAIDERS. I read it once and then immediately read it again, this time taking notes and sketching out the entire operation on a large sheet of graph paper.
