I am heartbroken to learn of Papa Jake Larson’s passing. On June 6, 1944, Staff Sergeant Jake M. Larson landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France under enemy fire. It was a true honor and privilege to get to know Papa Jake @storytimewithpapajake and spend time with him in Normandy for D-Day Commemoration events. I’ll never forget escorting him through the streets of Carentan in a parade honoring our World War II veterans to crowds chanting “Papa Jake! Papa Jake!” His positive attitude, spirit and outlook on life are lessons for us all. Papa Jake, thank you for sharing your light with the world. I’ll never forget you.
