This International Animal Rights Day, every animal - whether on our streets or in our homes - deserves safety, respect, and a life free from fear. They may not speak our language, but they feel everything the way we do. Their rights, their safety, and their chance at love, it all depends on us by choosing small acts of kindness every single day. 1. Feeding and Care: The Constitution of India, under 51 A (g) protects the right to feed and care for community animals. RWAs cannot prohibit feeding or creation of feeding spots 2. Caregiver Protection: Harassing, threatening or abusing community animal feeders is a punishable offense under Section 506 IPC (up to 2 years imprisonment, fine application, or both). 3. Relocation: No sterilised dogs can be relocated from their area under the Government of India, Animal Birth Control Rules 2001. 4. Relocation: It is illegal to relocate stray animals under Section 11(1) (i) and (i). Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. 5. Prohibiting Cruelty: It is illegal for anyone to capture, incite or bait community animals with the intent of causing harm, under Section 9, Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. 6.
