This week’s Summer Fridays star: 📖 Mikey Friedman, founder of @pagebreak.nyc - a weekend reading retreat turning novels into immersive, food-filled adventures. 📚What’s one underrated place or activity in NYC that you love? The Bureau @bgsqd is the CUTEST and most beautiful queer bookstore that’s tucked away on the 2nd floor of The LGBT Center in the village. It’s run entirely by volunteers (like me!), we host amazing events with authors, and curate a rotating art exhibit on the walls of the space. 🌭NYC’s summer taste HOT DOGS. Mustard and kraut all dayyyyyyyy 🌮Which place/ food has been your most recent obsession? @hellbendernyc in Ridgewood is cookin’ up some of the most creative Mexican-American food in town. The margs are bomb, they have an insane Roasted Oyster Mushroom Taco, and a Black Bass dish with Pistachio Mole Verde that I think about… OFTEN. They also have a life-size faux Jaguar named Sabrina that peers out over the restaurant from a glass case perched in the corner… like… obsessedddddddd 🚶Favorite NYC walk in the summer? Every month or so, my friend Lulu and I take a LOOOONG wandering stroll around the city. It starts on Atlantic Ave in BK, up through Brooklyn Heights to the promenade, down the elevated walkway to DUMBO, up through Brooklyn Navy Yard into Williamsburg, and across the Williamsburg Bridge into lower Manhattan. 🥵What’s your unpopular opinion about summer? People love to complain about the sticky stuffy heat in NYC summer but I absolutely LOVE it. I love looking around and seeing everyone’s dark armpit patches. It’s romantic. It’s human. It’s this universal, unifying force that reminds all New Yorkers that we’re in it together <3
