What we learned after being vendors @americasmartatl for almost a whole week (in no true order of importance): 1. You’re gonna need comfy shoes, this is a non-negotiable 2. As soon as you sign up for that market, you need to leap out of your comfort zone. You are there to sell your brand, product and self - you better work! 3. Perspective is everything. Some vendors will say it’s the best show ever and some will say it’s the worst. You are your only North Star, always 4. Coffee is hard to find and 10x more expensive than necessary 5. Stop and chat with as many founders as possible - the wealth of knowledge is unmatched! Plus, community over competition always!! 6. Stay calm when you don’t know the answer (can you discount a large order? What happens if you don’t ship on time, etc) 7. Have business cards, legit still very useful 8. Visuals are everything! Make your booth super cute! Catch the eyes of any possible buyers and display your best sellers! 9. Pre-booking as many stores as possible - I had an industry vet tell me “you should know how your shows going to go before you get there”. Pre-market marketing is essential 10. You’re going to want to go dancing in another city with your co-founder/bestie but you are here to work. Instead, dance on the escalators and go to bed early every night.
