Born in Rio, Est. 1945⁠ ⁠ Frescobol is a simple yet elegant game of bat and ball played between two people.⁠ ⁠ Created in 1945 by Lian Pontes de Carvalho using a stripped-back tennis ball and bats carved from foraged wood, it quickly became synonymous with the beaches of Posto 5, Rio de Janeiro.⁠ ⁠ Many lasting friendships have been formed - and maintained - over a game of frescobol. Played in the spirit of competition or meditation, it’s entirely up to the players.⁠ ⁠ Much like summering, the game has no mandated beginning or end. Just movement and pause as the day unfolds. ⁠ ⁠ Players may come and go, but the game continues.
