We never make custom candles for anyone. Not because we’re snobs, but because it takes months to get the perfect fragrance. And to be honest, there are only a handful of people we’d go through that kind of effort for. A few years ago, however, Chef @evanfunke asked if we could create a very specific custom candle for his restaurants. We didn’t hesitate. He gave us a clear brief: it had to smell like summer in Italy—the sweetness of neroli in the sun, the earthiness of sage in the garden, a flavor of spearmint, and the deepness of vetiver. This very special candle has been in Chef Evan’s restaurants for a few years, and people have begged us to buy it. THE ANSWER WAS ALWAYS NO, and I honestly thought we’d never sell it. This was something personal we made for him, and we didn’t want anyone else to have it. But to celebrate Chef Evan’s very generous curation of our vegetable boxes this month, we are offering a very limited supply of his beautiful candles.
