Moments away from being loaded onto a truck, headed across the border for slaughter, we were able to rescue three donkeys. This #WorldDonkeyDay, we celebrate new beginnings and three beautiful lives: Cola, Fanta & Shashta With feet in such terrible condition (see photos 4, 5 and 6), our first stop was to the hospital. All three received full checkups, including bloodwork, chest ultrasounds, and hoof x-rays. Unfortunately, Fanta was diagnosed with mild pneumonia and put on antibiotics. The next morning we noticed she was struggling to breathe, so she went back to the hospital and stayed there for a week on a nebulizer.
