What to do with alliums after flowering: You can cut alliums down at the base once the flowers, leaves and stem are no longer green. While the stem and leaves are still green, they are feeding the bulb for next year’s flowers. Cut them back too soon and they may not bloom next year. We quite like the seedheads, so we leave them in the border as they are to mingle among the summer flowers. Some allium seedheads last right through winter and look lovely covered in frost, particularly Allium cristophii and Allium schubertii. You can also collect and use the faded allium stems to use in dried cut flower arrangements. They look great and the display lasts for ages! Try putting them in a glass vase with added fairy lights for an uplifting winter arrangement ✨ . . . #alliums #alliumtips #gardening #gardeningtips #gardeningadvice #whattodointhegarden #gardeningjobsforjuly #julygardening #summergardening #summergarden #friday #weekendgardening #driedflowers #everlastingflowers #naturaldriedflowers
