If you could use some uplifting news this week, check out Humble Design—a nonprofit that turns houses into homes for previously unhoused people by furnishing their spaces for free. 🏡 ❤️ ⁣ ⁣ It's one thing to find housing to shelter people, but imagine walking into your home, and not having any furniture—no beds, no couch, not even silverware. ⁣ ⁣ That’s where @HumbleDesignSanDiego comes in. Before new tenants move in, a team of designers meets with the family to learn who they are: their personalities, likes, hobbies, favorite colors, etc. ⁣ ⁣ Then, in a matter of days, the nonprofit selects & pulls furnishings from a warehouse stacked with donated furniture, dishes, rugs, and games—and furnishes the home. ⁣ ⁣ Logistically, it's incredible. Emotionally, it’s something else entirely. ⁣ ⁣ Families walk into their homes, some never having had a place to call their own. Kids step into their bedrooms, and there are games in the closet, a desk for homework, and sheets on the bed in their favorite color. They have their own room, their own bed, their own space. ⁣ ⁣ It’s no wonder that 98% of the people who get the Humble Design treatment are still housed two years later, according to a study by the University of California San Diego. ⁣ ⁣ Having a place you're proud to invite guests to helps build community. Having a desk to do your homework at makes it easier to focus on your studies. Community and education can help break cycles of poverty. ⁣ ⁣ To support this incredible work, Dr. Bronner's is donating $25,000 to Humble Design, and we're making plans to volunteer in person in the coming months. ⁣ ⁣ Check out the amazing news segment in our bio link when you have a chance.
