A couple years ago, one of our employees had an idea to start a carpool program at Dr. Bronner's. It could reduce emissions, he said, and make it easier for employees to commute to work. It did both. 🙌⁣ ⁣ One vehicle with five employees, commuting 25 miles round trip each day, can reduce CO2 emissions by more than 10 metric tons per year compared to individual driving. That's the equivalent of 150 trees being planted & growing for 10 years! 🌳🌳🌳⁣ ⁣ Right now, 14 Dr. Bronner's employees participate.⁣ ⁣ In addition to the environmental benefits, this program benefits younger workers, lower-income households, and communities of color, all of whom often face the greatest challenges with transportation in our county. 🚗🚗🚗⁣ ⁣ It also reduces traffic (a great way to support our community), frees up parking spaces at headquarters, and helps employees from different departments get to know each other better.⁣ ⁣ Employees pay $35 per pay period to participate, compared to $285 for individual commuting.
