This Mother’s Day and Mental Health Awareness Month and I want to thank Mavi for being there for me in every moment- not just the happy ones.  As many of you know I battle depression and while I am still learning to live with it, having Mavi in my life has really helped. It’s like an ocean… it goes out and it comes in. It can be all consuming and when it hits I am plagued with fatigue and emptiness. During that time nothing seems to shine. I’m very lucky that I always have Mavi by my side begging for a walk or willing to cuddle when I am a prisoner to my bed. Together we always get to the other side.   I partnered for #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth with @nulopetfood in support of the silent battle so many of us are fighting. Awareness is the first step, then from there it’s dissolving the stigma that surrounds mental health and keeps us hiding our private battles. If you are struggling- just know that you are not alone and there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Set up this camera to run some b-roll video for my new guide to restaurant training your cat. Ended up capturing this special moment. Somehow in the busy casino all three of us are lost in each other. I’m so lucky to call these two my family. 🫶

Can you believe it? Just three years ago, we were living full-time in a van for almost a year! And not just any van—it was this rustic antique with no A/C, no heat, no bathroom, and definitely no shower. It was rough around the edges, but oh man, was it worth it for all the amazing places we got to see. We drove from the northwestern most point in Washington down to the southeastern most point Key West, Florida. A true cross country experience in the most literal sense. Since then, we’ve really scaled back our lives and embraced a more minimalist lifestyle. I don’t have a purse or handbag anymore, it was tough to manage one anyway with all Mavi’s stuff to carry around. That experience changed us deeply, and now we focus all our spending on experiences. We’ve become collectors of the moment and with every new adventure, our desire to explore just keeps growing!

During the earthquake things fell from the walls and end tables. We had to rush to find a doorway as the earth shook, but alls well and everyone was safe and sound. Mavi just froze when we grabbed him and he became like a wide eyed statue until the shaking stopped. Quite an experience- just relieved there wasn’t any damage in our community and we were only a few miles from the epicenter. It’s a purrfect time to say hello! I’m Mavi and I live in San Diego.
