Building Strength & Muscle Marathon prep has officially begun first week of Triphasic eccentric phase for lower body. Goal with these slow eccentrics is to build strength and increase tendon stiffness along with muscle hypertophy and motor unit synchronization. This is coupled with abrupt loading strategies and fast eccentrics on my plyometric days. For the next 6 weeks I’ll be going from eccentrics-isometrics-followed with concentric phase where it will flow into condensed conjugate as my volume picks up on the running. Sets and reps are around 3-4 sets and 5-6 reps at a 3-5 sec eccentric. Here’s a few exercises from todays training. This was coupled 6 hours apart with a 5 mile easy run for aerobic capacity.
