I thought I’d share why I’ve been MIA since things look a bit different going forward. 🥹 One month ago I was diagnosed with an aggressive thyroid cancer. And on Friday I had major surgery for it. I’m now recovering from a complicated 6 hour surgery that was most importantly - successful! My thyroid, both masses and all affected lymph nodes were removed. As well as a small portion of my neck muscle. My vocal nerve was able to be stabilized enough to keep it. I’ll be able to start vocal therapy in about 4 weeks. I now have a 9 inch incision across the front / side of my neck. We are just waiting on pathology and some more scans next week will give us some more clarity on radiation and next steps. I am thankful surgery is over. And I’m so incredibly grateful for my medical team in Boston. I’m not really sure how to navigate everything just yet. I don’t think I’ve fully accepted what’s been going on if I’m being honest. I just wanted to let you know I’m still here trying to keep the dream of DD alive. Love you all so much. 🫶🏼 - Samantha
