Back in May, NASA was facing a 47% budget cut from the White House, which would have been the lowest proposed funding since 1961. The cuts would have brought nearly a third of all projects to a halt. But thanks to The Planetary Society (@planetarysociety) and the thousands of people who wrote to their representatives, signed petitions, and helped raise awareness, Congress is paying attention! The House's Commerce, Justice, and Science (CJS) Appropriations Subcommittee just advanced a 2026 funding bill that rejects the massive proposed cuts to NASA and NASA science. The bill would provide $24.9 billion for the agency, keeping funding consistent with 2024 levels. There’s still a long road ahead to fully protect NASA’s core capabilities, but this is a huge step forward and proof that public advocacy works. The Planetary Society is leading the charge by advocating for smart policy and empowering everyday space fans to become effective voices for science. But they can’t do it alone. Want to help keep the spirit of exploration alive? Tap the link in our bio to get involved! 🚀
