For Alejandra Rossetti’s husband no other sentence makes his knees quiver than “I have an idea
For Alejandra Rossetti’s husband no other sentence makes his knees quiver than “I have an idea!”. An exclamatory declaration delivered with gusto by Alejandra on some mornings when inspiration strikes on how she can tweak one corner of their garden or better yet create an entirely new garden room. “Some people golf. We garden,” says Alejandra who is a self-confessed garden fanatic. “There is nothing more pleasurable for us than to be tinkering among the plants. It brings me absolute joy to visit the nursery or to deadhead the roses.” Interior designer and photographer @bluecarreon captures Alejandra's bountiful garden as well as many others in his book THE GARDENS OF THE HAMPTONS (Images Publishing). @bethany.adams.interiors breathes joyful color and a more contemporary spirit into a 1911 home in Louisville, Kentucky that still pays homage to its outstanding architectural heritage. The dining room speaks to the grandness of the original architecture with its graceful oval molding on the ceiling and the later 1920s renovation that added mirrored walls for a more glamorous appeal. Click @flowermagazine and go to the blue link in bio to see more beautiful rooms from this colorful home. Photo by @jljordanphotography Styling by @kimberlyswedelius Article by @alice.the.editor #design #kentucky #style #interior #interiordesigner #renovation #home #botanical #floral #flowermagazine

“Gardening is in my DNA,” interior designer Marshall Watson says
“Gardening is in my DNA,” interior designer Marshall Watson says. “My mother and father were both avid gardeners who relished everything from pruning simple hedges to propagating specialty roses. However, it took several years for me and my two brothers to acquire our green thumbs. Now it’s a labor of love and a perennial topic of conversation. We all share tips, swap plants, and even engage in a little friendly competition to see who can grow the most beautiful roses. It’s usually me, by the way.” Take a stroll through the grounds that surround Marshall and husband Paul Sparks’s idyllic East Hampton estate, and it’s easy to see why he’s most likely to take home the prize. The property features multiple gardens laid out like interior rooms that cohesively flow together while also having their own unique personalities. Go to flowermag.com to see more! Article by @margaret_zainey_roux Photography by @bluecarreon Excerpted from DEFINING ELEGANCE (Rizzoli) by @marshallwatsondesigner @watsonreiddeaneganes #garden #gardens #gardeninspiration #outdoorliving #interiordesigner #design #blooms #flowermagazine

“Perfection is the enemy of beauty
“Perfection is the enemy of beauty.” It’s a powerful notion yet also a tad ironic coming from Patrick Dunne, the legendary New Orleans antiquarian and decorator known for his unerring eye.“ I find stories where others find flaws,” he says. “To me, a timeworn piece of wood or a slightly tattered textile is special because it’s a survivor. It should be appreciated and celebrated, not picked over or pushed aside.” It was this philosophy that resonated with Lafayette residents Germaine and Jerome Smith 20 years ago when they met Patrick at his former French Quarter emporium, Lucullus Antiques. Subsequently, it was the same philosophy that made Patrick and interior designer Nathan Drewes of Decorations Lucullus the perfect team to task when the Smiths decided to build a weekend retreat in Old Metairie, a quiet hamlet a few minutes outside the Crescent City. Click @flowermagazine and go to the blue link in our bio to see more from this inspired home! Photo by @saraessexbradley Designed by @decorationslucullus Architecture by @kevingossen Article by @margaret_zainey_roux #antiques #antique #vintagehome #interiors #interior #designer #style #interiordesigner #home #interiordesign #flowermagazine
