From the beginning, the vision of Velosmith was to outfit riders with better bikes. Bikes that better fit the rider’s intended use, better matched their fitting requirements and range of motion and kept an eye for the future. The bikes would be better made - also with an eye to the future. Bikes that were reliable, serviceable and timeless. We would gauge our success in this area by how long our clients would keep these bikes. Jokingly, we would say this is the last bike you’ll need, but probably not the last bike you’ll want. This Seven build is special for us at Velosmith because it picks up daily riding duties for a Seven we built our client in 2011. In fact, that 2011 Seven build was the first Seven we ever sold! 13 years of regular miles, adventures, laughs, coffee stops and organized riding events, near and far. We are thrilled to build this new Seven and incorporate the changes 13 years bring to both rider and bicycle technology. This Seven is designed to be both road and light gravel capable, two wheelsets allow for day-of decision making regarding routes and scenery. The geometry lends a bit more stability when compared to the first Seven build. That stability is welcomed on the trails and the road. The rider position sees a small decrease in saddle/bar height differential (common for aging, yet active and consistent riders). Electronic shifting is a huge change and one of the most standout elements. That and the lower tire pressure/increased ride comfort. Last spring when we delivered this Seven, it was truly a moment for us to take it all in. How far we have come in 13 years. The industry, the products, the technology and cycling as a whole has evolved greatly but seeing the excitement on a client’s face on new bike day remains.
