This right whale turned out so beautifully… but it has quite a story behind it. When I first opened the kiln a few years ago, I found its fin lying next to the body — it had broken off during the firing. For more than two years this whale patiently waited on the shelf, quietly resting among my “unfinished” pieces, until the right moment came. Thanks to the incredible work of @kintsugi_berlin , the fin was carefully restored using the traditional Japanese technique of Kintsugi — mending with gold. Now this golden seam flows seamlessly into the whale’s dark metallic glaze with golden sparkles, becoming part of its character rather than a flaw. ✨ This whale carries a story of patience, imperfection, and rebirth.
