Introducing the first-ever Samurai Jeans x Blue Owl collaboration: the Shizen Selvedge Denim. Launching this Friday only at Blue Owl.⁠ ⁠ Named after the Japanese word for nature, the Shizen Selvedge Denim collaboration is built on Samurai’s rarest and most limited offering to date – the Samurai Cotton Project denim. ⁠ ⁠ Conceptualized by founder Toru Nogami, this series produces garments with absolutely every detail made in Japan from seed to stitch.⁠ Cotton is grown and harvested in the brand’s backyard of Sasayama, Japan by a team of farmers helmed by Nogami himself, which is then transformed into a low-tension 18oz Japanese selvedge denim with a seeded slub texture.⁠ ⁠ The jeans are then over-dyed using custom-developed natural dyes in four colors. Each dye is derived from ingredients like Japanese tamba chestnuts, madder root, and genuine sumi ink, and binds to the slub fabric in its own way – making every pair completely unique.⁠ ⁠ Finally, the jeans release alongside a set of matching Heavyweight T-Shirts. These tees are built using the brand’s best-selling heavyweight slub yarn, and dyed using the same dyes as each denim. Each t-shirt is sewn using old-school circular-knit construction, and cut in an updated fit with extra room in the shoulders and chest.⁠ ⁠ Each color of the Shizen Selvedge Denim is offered in Samurai’s 211 Relaxed Tapered and 710 Straight fits, with sizes up to W40 tag.⁠ ⁠ Eight jeans.
