Today we stopped in @pineridgeacres just down the road from the fairgrounds and came home with delicious treats. You could skip the grocery store entirely and enjoy sweet snacks, meats, eggs, milk, vegetables and more all from local producers. Store manager Sierra (and Aaron & Randy who work the farm) pride themselves on developing relationships with every farm or @getrealmaine product featured in the 24/7 self serve shop. Need ice cream and a locally pastured ribeye at midnight? They’ve got you! Craving some @morseskraut pickles and a @bixbychocolate bar? They’ve got that too! We’re hoping to partner in some way with this iconic local farm (perhaps you remember it by its historic names Sunrise Acres or Spring Ledge Farm) for the @fairgrounds5k & market on August 31st and had some fun talking about possibilities as we seek to promote and support Maine farming with this inaugural event. What a delight that farms like this are sprinkled across the state, offering farm stands and stores that operate on trust in community. Do you have a favorite self serve farm stand or store in Maine?
