Sitting at over 10,000 feet above sea level is Aspen Alley in Breckenridge, Colorado. This well-maintained, single-track mountain bike trail is as technical as it is beautiful; it’s best in the fall when the leaves on the aspen trees turn bright yellow. Hiking with dogs is allowed, though it is not suggested on the weekends when out-of-town bikers come bombing down the mountain without much thought or care. You slowly ascend along trails and switchbacks, stopping to look at the summer wildflowers and maybe even a moose, and eventually you find yourself standing in front of a hulking steam boiler and other rusted remnants of Breckenridge’s mining past. #andsonsuk #rollthebones
