🫎 The Alaskan moose is truly one of nature’s giants. Males can reach up to seven feet tall at the shoulder and weigh as much as 1,600 pounds. Despite their massive size, they are graceful swimmers able to dive up to 20 feet and hold their breath for about 30 seconds. Their long legs help them move quickly through deep snow, reaching speeds of up to 35 miles per hour. A moose can eat nearly 70 pounds of plants in a single day, and males shed their antlers each year as part of their natural cycle. This particular moose was blind in one eye due to cataracts yet still moved through its environment with quiet strength and resilience.
