One week ago, on the night of Thursday, September 18th, 2025 I found myself at 12am helping, my fiancé, Joshua put as much of his belongings as we could grab into garbage bags. No notice, no help from family, just us in the reality of the moment. I watched him freeze as he stared off at where to begin. “We have to hurry before she comes back,” I said. We had no time to think, just act. With nothing planned next, other than to check-in to a nearby motel for the night. About two hours later, we grabbed all that we could that would fit into his car, he called Wild Rose. When we got to the motel, Joshua remembered that he posted a video earlier that day that was fully vulnerable and expressed that he lost his housing and needed help. He checked his phone and all of a sudden we realized that although we are in a motel that felt cold and hopeless, there were Admirers that made it clear that he was not alone. As a partner, it made my heart so full seeing the support and those who even just shared kind words that he will be safe and that everything will be okay. I don’t think Joshua or I knew how we were going to pivot, considering we both stayed with family ( mine being 100 miles away from his family in Chicago) and had not planned to move together until closer to when we were done paying off our wedding, but having so many people be so uplifting and supportive meant the world. In that moment I fully understood why he calls them Admirers. This is our story and I will never forget the night that hope is still possible even in the most impossible situation. And that story continues even more, in a positive direction towards being able to get permanent housing — even with this short notice and us being able to pick up the pieces and build a better life together. Don’t lose hope and always lean on your community in times of trouble. We are forever grateful and will bring you along on this journey towards hope. 🤍🎀
