As we filmed with @eliwehbe and @kiliankorth , we found out just how much ultra running is more than putting one foot in front of the other. Ultramarathons are any footrace longer than the standard 26.2-mile, including massive elevation, brutal terrain, and extreme heat, cold, and darkness. And training for them isn’t as simple as just logging more miles. It’s back-to-back long runs, strength work, fueling strategies, logistics planning, problem solving, and so much more. Hundreds of calories per hour. Electrolytes to replace what sweat strips away. Hydration timed precisely to avoid cramping, crashing, or shutting down. When the body is depleted, the plan is what keeps them moving forward. And then there’s the mental side. Running through the night. Through exhaustion. Through the moments where quitting makes sense but isn’t an option. Ultra endurance isn’t about speed. It’s about discipline, resilience, and refusing to quit when the discomfort hits hardest. Moving forward when you’re already depleted. We’re excited to follow along Eli’s journey as he gears up for the Monster 300 - a 304 mile point to point journey through Southern Arizona’s Sonoran desert, and Kilian as he prepares for The Cocodona 250 - an elite 250-mile point-to-point race traversing Arizona from Black Canyon City to Flagstaff.
