Glenn Martens for Margiela has been the talk of the internet since his first couture collection debuted on Tuesday night in Paris. Whether you were a fan or not, the show was so inspirational from a surface and patina standpoint, even the walls were inspirational! Martens’ eye for distinctive texture and affinity with denim was evident, elevating each look into a tactile, artistic statement that felt both raw and meticulously crafted. The influence of denim finishing reframed the clothing into bespoke, sculptural forms, paving the way from utilitarian to couture. @michele.lemper is a Cologne based graduate who’s just finished her masters at @textil_bekleidungstechnik_hsnr and has been engrossed in the word of textile design and yarn manipulation. For her graduate collection she applied this approach to waste denim, working with a laser cutter, she hand-linked or crocheted denim instead of traditional stitching and the results are amazing. She says: “I wanted to create a collection that is inspired and designed for recycling and pushing laser cutting to its limits. Challenging the machine and pushing what’s possible within its boundaries opened up new possibilities that weren’t originally intended for its use. Sometimes, it’s the limits that create unexpected freedom” Her work was just shown at Berlin fashion week as part of the @neofashion.de presentation and will also be exhibited at Krefelder Laufmasche, Krefeld, 18th–21st September 2025.

@guessjeans opened its first mainland Asia flagship store in Tokyo’s Jingūmae district this past July 4th, featuring several collaborations and initiatives including a pop-up shop curated by Japanese artist Verdy, called “Guess Jeans Gift Shop with Friends”. The gift shop included limited-edition merchandise from fourteen local brands such as TTTMSW, The Flwrs, Blackmeans, and Masu. In addition to the store, Guess Jeans is presenting a traveling exhibition in Tokyo titled “Guess Jeans: The Next 40 Years of Denim” highlighting the brand’s history but also featuring a mini laundry and a customization zone with Japanese creators Ryota Daimon and A Love Movement. “Japan has always been a global leader in design, innovation, and cultural influence—values that are deeply rooted in our brand DNA. This space represents more than retail; it’s a platform to engage directly with a new generation of creative voices in the region. We’re excited to plant deeper roots in Tokyo as part of our long-term vision for growth across Asia.” said Nicolai Marciano, chief new business development officer.

The Men’s SS26 shows have come to an end and we’re working on our full runway report right now. But in the meantime, here’s some of our top moments and notable shows for design and concept inspiration from Milan, Florence and Paris. This season put a clear emphasis on softened menswear with curvy, voluminous shapes, whilst retro prep and 70s influences held strong, there was a notable pivot toward 80s codes: power shoulders, pleated trousers, and tapered silhouettes reimagined for today. Contemporary workwear sets remain undefeated, and creative finishes and bold prints were everywhere. Slim fits continue to make a prominent return as did the longline baggy short. Multi-waistband and layered looks persist, and bespoke embellishments continued to trend hard. US based brands, heads up: @goldrushstardust is an amazing resource for premium textiles predominantly from Japan and the US. The LA based studio was founded by James Kimura-Green and we regularly visit him for inspiration as James straddles the line between deeply authentic, crafted fabrics and innovative, fashion led creativity as you’ll see above. We particularly love the fused and bonded qualities that achieve that over-distressed look championed by upcyclers like Paradoxe Paris and NTMB but these fabrics are sold on the roll. Some of his past and current clients include Olderbrother, B-Sides, Stussy, Kato Brand, Levi’s Made & Crafted, Buck Mason, Imogene & Willie, Citizen’s of Humanity, Gitman, United Arrows and Baycrews Journal Standard. James’ work goes beyond the normal supply and demand role, working with both brands and mills to create some really unique creative fabrics. While we’re keeping an eye on the bigger players at the Men’s SS26 shows and presentations, one of the smaller designers we’re especially excited about is @creak_hannah. Founded in 2023, this Parisian label is rooted in sustainability and independent craftsmanship. Known for its use of deadstock fabrics and vintage materials, Hannah Creak creates one-of-a-kind pieces and limited collections with a strong commitment to ethical production and environmental responsibility. Studding and distinctive hardware have become the brand’s calling card, adding an edge to each garment. Recently the brands latest work was avaibale at the @apocstore pop-up a few weeks ago, a refreshing reminder that innovation often thrives off the main stage.

Color designer and researcher @emilygubbay explores site-specific supply chains and reimagines how color is sourced, made, and applied. Her project Infinity Blue is a circular color-sharing system that recovers synthetic indigo from denim waste using a natural, chemical-free process. With 2 million tonnes of denim discarded annually—enough to dye five years’ worth of jeans—Infinity Blue offers a way to reclaim pigment and reduce reliance on virgin dye. In collaboration with @blackhorselane, 50g of offcuts were used to print a pair of jeans, showing the potential for fully circular indigo. Earlier this month the concept was on view at @materialfutures (CSM) and now showing during Milan Design Week and the Future Fabrics Expo @dropcity_org June 24–25.

Meet the Denim Gorilla, a 3.5-meter-tall beast built over 1 year, 8 months, and 7 days. Every muscle 3D-printed. Every inch hand-stitched in denim. In collaboration with the taxidermy artists at Darwin, Sinke & van Tongeren, Gstar took denim somewhere totally unexpected, into the world of fine taxidermy art by combining science, craftsmanship and artistry. The unveiling of this larger-than-life Denim Gorilla will open to the public on June 26th at the Art Zoo Museum in Amsterdam.

Vintage dealer and dirt enthusiast, @oldirtyyy has been cooking up some custom creations lately that we have been more than mildly obsessed with. Facilitator of fades to celebs such as Young Thug, Offset, Gunna and Jeremy Allen White, the Italian based dealer has been elevating his regular vintage pieces with custom western stud work as well as tending to his ‘fade garden’ of vintage tees and hand distressing and re-colouring an array of Carhartts to perfection. Anyway, this latest jacket with bespoke rusted studs is unhinged so it’s going on the grid along with a few other of his latest projects.
